Linkin Park returns

Since it seems like everyone on the internet is suddenly a music journalist, I figured I’d throw my hat into the arena too. Why not? I’ve done every other job, possess some rudimentary musical ability and have (somehow) ended up being a professional critique machine.

Amongst all the negative I’ve seen and there seems to be a disproportionate amount (although thankfully also some positive voices out there too). Let me kick this off with a simple:
Emily Armstrong fucking rocks! So too does Colin, but unfortunately in this dumb “evil timeline” of a world, he won’t be targeted for any criticisms.

For some background: I’ve been a Linkin Park fan since Hybrid Theory came out, mostly indifferent to it at the start but literally held hostage by it when I ended up on a 6-hour journey with a bootleg cassette (dubbed from a copy of the CD) being the only music in the car. By the end of the trip, we’d listened to nearly 10 times end-to-end, and I got it: it was full of energy, power and emotion.

Today, I can report that I am once again held hostage by Linkin Park: the Livestream and The Emptiness Machine have pretty much been on repeat for me this entire weekend and as a long-time fan – It’s Linkin Park, if it looks like a duck and quacks like a duck, it must be a duck, right?
